Deepika Padukone On Her FEAR Of Not Being Accepted In Bollywood: ‘My South Indian Accent Was Frowned Upon’
Deepika Padukone is one of the most successful and sought-after actresses in Bollywood. The actress made her impressive acting with the 2006 released rom-com ‘Om Shanti Om’ opposite Shah Rukh Khan and post that she has indeed come a long way in her career. But did you know there was a time when Deepika was worried about not being accepted in Bollywood because of her south Indian accent? Yes, you read that right! In a recent interview, the Piku actress made this surprising revelation.

 Speaking with Vogue magazine, Deepika opened up about the apprehensions that she faced before making a big in the industry. The actress was quoted saying, "I do see the obvious disparity between men and women in almost any aspect of life, but never in my journey have I felt the need to compare. And I think it’s to do with the fact that my sister and I weren’t brought up like that. We weren’t constantly reminded of the fact that we were girls, and so we had to go into the world thinking differently and fighting for what we deserved. But I did have to tackle other challenges. Coming from a sports background meant I did not have a natural inroad into Bollywood. Meanwhile, Deepika was recently seen in Amazon Prime’s complex relationship drama Gehraiyaan, which also starred Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa. The leggy lass will next be seen with Shah Rukh Khan in his comeback film Pathaan. Deepika also has an upcoming action thriller 'Fighter' with Hrithik Roshan in the pipeline.
